Everyone's got their rockstar hero(s), and we'd be willing to bet big that this week's special guest can be found on many a bedroom wall in the form of posters for either Hole or the Smashing Pumpkins. Melissa Auf der Maur cannot be mistaken as the red-headed bassist of both bands. And she is so, so much more than that. She is the founder of Basilica Hudson, one of the ENTIRE EARTH'S most spectacular and radical non-profit arts spaces that is completely off the grid and fully green'd out, and having hosted incredible artists like John Waters, Matthew Barney, Marianne Vitale, as well as Soundscape -- an EPIC music festival (for many years, co-hosted with Pitchfork, before they sucked), which featured acts like Swans, Jenny Hval, Lightning Bolt, Deafheaven, Angel Olsen and the list goes on to dizzying degrees.

Basically, Melissa is and has always LIVED THE DREAM. She is tireless in her pursuit of beauty, and in Basilica has brought together an extraordinary global and local community of artists and musicians, offering them a platform to do their thing in as glorious a way as possible.

We will release the full episode of our interview with her on Friday, a day after we air our regular show, which features clips, alongside anthems of the alternative era. DON'T MISS IT!

But in the meantime, check out this clip of her with David Lynch's daughter, Jennifer Lynch, at the club Melissa worked in as a teen (referenced in our show!).

NEXT, dig this: Violet, the very first music video Melissa ever did. We think she did a GREAT job. You be the judge:
